Chromic Catgut Suture is a twisted multifilament structure with a monofilament appearance, it is natural surgical gut suture made by twisting together strand of Collagenous material taken from the submucosal layers of the small intestine of healthy sheep and goat.
The chromic catgut is processed to provide higher resistance to absorption and treated with chromic salts to delay absorption. Chromic sutures are sterile and elicit only to a minimal tissue reaction during the absorption.
